Isle of Jura wood fired sauna — popping up all over Jura!
Our converted horsebox is a wood-fired sauna and we’re taking it to the best bits of Jura. One session you’ll find us at Corran beach with the Paps behind you, the next we might be down in the village, or up the north end of Jura. The location changes, the views won’t disappoint.
It’s a wood-fired sauna, we light the fire, you get hot, you run into the sea or jump into our ice barrel (if at retreat). Although the sauna can take up to 8 people we’re keeping the sessions small (5 people max). If you hire the whole thing you can add up to 8 people, it will be ‘cosy’!
Please note Corran Sands is an hour’s walk from Craighouse, please let me know if you don’t have a car.
Where to stay
Corran Sands is four miles north of Craighouse — white sand, clear turquoise water and the Paps framing the skyline. The sauna sits right on the beach, with the sea a refreshing 7°C in winter and 14°C in summer, and the river if you want a fresh water dunk instead.
Bothan Jura Retreat is five minutes’ walk up the road: a stone cottage, a timber cabin, a corten-steel lodge and an off-grid shepherd’s hut, each sleeping two, dogs welcome. The cottage, the cabin and the lodge have wood-fired hot tubs. The cottage has its own sauna indoors. The ice barrel is at the shed, chilled to 3°C, with the gym and the telescope.

Sessions bookable a week before on the calendar. We only show appointments 1-2 weeks in advance, if you are coming on holiday to Jura or coming over from Islay and wish to book a specific date, please get in touch with me and we will do our best to get the sauna going for your dates. We are super flexible.
By appointment
We live five minutes from the sauna and it takes 40 minutes to heat up — so booking outside regular hours is genuinely easy. Just get in touch and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
Minimum charge for an appointment session is £45 (3 people at £15 each). Groups of fewer than 3 are welcome but the £45 minimum still applies.
For exclusive use of the whole sauna, private hire starts at £75 per hour.
Arriving by yacht?
Corran Sands is one of the safest anchorages on Jura. Easy to anchor off and tender in — the sauna will be lit and waiting. Just book ahead so we know you’re coming.
