Getting to Jura
Getting to Jura is part of the experience. By the time you arrive, you've already slowed down.
Here's how the journey works, and what to expect once you're on the island.
Jura is reached via Islay. The main route is the CalMac car ferry from Kennacraig on the mainland to Port Askaig on Islay, then the wee ferry across the Sound of Islay to Feolin on Jura — the whole journey from Glasgow takes around 6 hours, depending on connections. Allow a day. In summer, the Jura Passenger Ferry runs a fast catamaran direct from Tayvallich to Craighouse — 50 minutes, no car needed — and flights to Islay with Loganair from Glasgow take 25 minutes. If you are coming as a foot passenger we can arrange collection.
Two ways in · One single-track road · ~6 hours from Glasgow
