Mrs Leonard's Cottage.

Named for her most well known local Jura resident, Mrs. Leonard, the cottage has a cosy, double-height sitting room with the old stone gable end exposed and a wood-burning stove in the fireplace; a comfy double bed with Emma mattress and an en-suite shower & toilet with underfloor heating is at the other. There is a small, but fully fitted kitchen with hob, oven, fridge-freezer, microwave and coffee machine.

A library ladder leads up to a mezzanine level with day bed and skylights looking up to the stars.

Outside there is a private south-facing garden with picnic table that looks out over the long white stretch of Corran Sands towards the village of Craighouse across Small Isles Bay and up to the Paps of Jura to the west. We also have a FatBoy garden hammock you can use.

Where the outdoor privvy used to be, there is now a wood-fired hot tub, an electric sauna for two and a cold-water outdoor shower; great to wash off a hot day's slog on the hills, to refresh after the sauna or before taking a long soak in the tub as the sun goes down over the Paps. Later, you can switch on the fairy-lights for a late night supper, stargazing and chats around the fire bowl, or borrow our Ooni pizza oven, open a bottle and let the evening drift away.

Mrs Leonard's was the first thing we restored at Knockrome. It set the tone for everything that followed — simple, honest, built with care. Pi designed the interior layout to make one room feel like three. The garden was fuchsia, bracken and bog when we started. Now it's the most peaceful spot on the site. This is the property we'd book if we were visiting for the first time or wanted a bit more space and privacy.
